For the second year, we are organizing a one-day retreat for all youth animators in Gozo. This retreat aims to boost our spiritual development and get us ready for Easter week. We assure you it will be a great time, full of lessons, reflections, and a chance to bond as a community.

The final week of Jesus’ life is brimming with characters who can teach us a lot, some famous and some not. During this retreat, Fr. Eric Cachia SDB will lead discussions on three individuals from that week: Simon of Cyrene, Malchus, and the Servant Girl at the High Priest’s Courtyard. Who were they?

  • Simon of Cyrene: Forced by Roman soldiers to carry Jesus’ cross to Golgotha, Simon’s act represents the burden-sharing aspect of discipleship and the idea of participating in Christ’s suffering.
  • Malchus: A servant of the high priest, Malchus was with the soldiers who arrested Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. When Peter cut off Malchus’ ear, Jesus healed him, showing compassion and power amidst betrayal and violence.
  • Servant Girl at the High Priest’s Courtyard: Accusing Peter of being one of Jesus’ disciples, this servant girl fulfilled Jesus’ prophecy of Peter’s denial. Her accusation highlights the fear and pressure Jesus’ followers faced during his trial and crucifixion.

We will gather on Saturday, March 23rd, at 9 am at Lourdes Retreat House, Għajnsielem. There will be prayer, fellowship, a hearty lunch, and, weather permitting, a group walk. We will wrap up around 4:00 pm. Whether you are looking to deepen your faith, renew your commitment to your spiritual journey, or simply recharge, this retreat has something for you!

Do not hesitate! Register below today and join us for a day of spiritual rejuvenation and growth. We cannot wait to see you!

N.B. A €20 contribution will be collected to cover lunch and venue expenses.
