3 basics

Kummisjoni Djocesana Żgħażagħ Għawdex (KDŻG) is once again hosting the ‘3 Basics’ formation meetings, designed to support Gozitan youth who live away from home during their studies or work in Malta. Taking place on 28, 29 and 30 October at 8.00pm, these meetings will be led by Fr. Krystof Buttigieg at the University Chaplaincy.

Many Gozitan youths in Malta feel distanced from their local parishes and Christian communities, making it challenging to sustain their faith and maintain a connection to a shared set of values. The ‘3 Basics’ aims to provide a space for them to grow spiritually and stay connected with a supportive community, despite the physical distance from home.

This year, the catechesis will focus on Zacchaeus, a figure who, like many young people today, had aspirations that sometimes led him astray. Through this reflection, participants will explore the importance of welcoming Jesus into their lives to find true direction.

Alongside spiritual guidance, the ‘3 Basics’ meetings provide a meaningful opportunity for attendees to find a sense of ‘home’ amidst their busy and often stressful lives. Gathering with fellow Gozitans offers a comforting space to relax, reconnect, and share experiences over refreshments which will be provided after each session. Additionally, it introduces the youths to the various services offered by the University Chaplaincy, helping them build a supportive community where they can nurture their faith and values together.
